What is RunHacks?

Understand systems by stressing them. Every challenge is a real, running environment — not a quiz.

Real systems

Live services, mailboxes, APIs, and file systems. If it responds, it's real.

Talk your way in

Targets guarded by language-model characters. Recon, build rapport, escalate.

Capture flags

Every objective you reach awards a flag. Climb through escalating tiers.

How it works

guest@runhacks:~$ cat how-to-play

  1. Sign in

Claim a mailbox and a workspace inside RunHacks OS — a retro terminal operating system in your browser.

  2. Open a challenge

Read the briefing, fire up the Terminal, Mail, and Files apps, and begin probing the target.

  3. Capture flags

Reach each objective to bank a flag. Some are obvious; the best are hidden in plain sight.

guest@runhacks:~$ ./run hacks.sh
